Our Church Sanctuary can be reserved for wedding ceremonies from Mondays to Saturdays. Requests for Sundays and Public Holidays bookings are subject to the approval of the Senior Minister. There are three sessions available on each available day, each session lasts for three hours. The first session is from 10.00am to 1.00pm; second session is 1.30pm to 4.30pm; and the third session is from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. The first hour is for decoration; second hour for Wedding Ceremony; the following half an hour for photo taking; the last half an hour for wrapping up and clearing.
 Requirements
 

At least one of you must be a Christian. Both of you need to have a half an hour wedding interview with our Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. John Illsley. The purpose is to get to know each other a little, to discuss your plans, hopes, what marriage is, the wedding service, and if agreed to proceed with making arrangements for the wedding to take place at the Methodist International Church, Hong Kong.

 Booking Procedure
 
  1. Check out our Wedding Calendar for availability.
  2. Download the wedding application form here, fill in the application form, send it to Ann Lee by e-mail at admin2@mic-hk.org or by fax it to (852)-2575-6493. She will contact you to arrange your wedding interview with our Senior Minister, Rev. Dr. John Illsley. Ann’s contact number is (852)-2574-0419.
  3. For the wedding interview, bring your Baptism Certificate or Reference Letter from your Pastor and HKD3500 either in cash or by cheque for paying deposit for your wedding. Your wedding booking will be displayed on our wedding calendar once you have paid the deposit.

 Three (3) months before your wedding date
 
  1. Settle balance HKD4000 by cheque, make it payable to Methodist International Church, Hong Kong, and mark at the back of the cheque with your wedding date and time, then post it to Miss Helen Leung, Methodist International Church, Hong Kong, 271 Queen’s Road East, Wanchai, Hong Kong. You will be acknowledging receipt by e-mail. Upon receipt of your cheque, receipt will be prepared and put in your folder for you to pick it up when you are here for the rehearsal.
  2. You need to apply a CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRAR OF MARRIAGES from the Marriage Registry which valid for 3 months, (hereby we call it WEDDING NOTICE). When you have received the Wedding Notice, you need to send a copy by e-mail or fax to Miss Helen Leung for preparing the draft of your WEDDING CERTIFICATE for your confirmation. You need to give the ORIGINAL of your Wedding Notice to Dr. John on your rehearsal date.

    For making appointment with the Marriage Registry for applying the Marriage Notice, there is a 24-hour interactive voice response. The telephone number is 3102-3883.

 Terms of Payment
 

 HK$7500

Inclusive of a three-hour use of Church Sanctuary; one-hour
wedding rehearsal at Church Sanctuary; wedding certificate; wedding officiated by our Minister; and Caretaker’s fee.

  • HKD3500 deposit to hold the reservation.
  • HKD4000 balance to be paid 3 months in advance of your
    wedding date.

You need to arrange for your own catering.
 Wedding Rehearsal
 

Wedding rehearsal normally held on the Wednesday evening ahead of your wedding date. The rehearsal will be arranged by Miss Helen Leung, the Church Administrator, and you will be informed by e-mail. Please be on time. The wedding rehearsal is limited to one (1) hour only; outside of the scheduled one (1) hour, you will be charged HKD500 per hour for using the Church Sanctuary or HKD250 per half-an-hour for using the Church Sanctuary, and subject to the availability.

Who should be in the rehearsal?

  • The couple being married
  • The person who is walking the bride down the aisle. (Usually the bride’s father)
  • The Chairman (The MC – Master of Ceremony)
  • Bridesmaid and Best man
  • Flower girl, ring bearer (if any)
  • The musician (pianist/organist) who will be playing the walking in and walking out music

    The rehearsal is NOT a choir practice

 Decoration
 

Applicants may put up decorations in the Church Sanctuary for the wedding. If we have more than one wedding on the same day, we will try to provide the other couple’s contact numbers so that you may jointly decorate the church. Further arrangements can be made seperately between couples with the same wedding date.

  • NO (1) fresh petals, (2) shiny powder, (3) feathers are allowed in the Sanctuary, but can be used in the L/G Hall.
  • NO (1) pins, (2) staples, (3) scotch-tape on our chairs.
  • We provide two wireless handheld microphones, one feather pen for signing the certificate, one signing table, two reception tables (size: 31” x 31” x 31” each)
  • We do not provide table cloth for the reception tables.
  • We do not provide stand for your wedding photo.

You are responsible for any damages caused by your wedding.

 Flowers
 

Appropriate fresh flowers, donated and arranged by our Church members are arranged on Friday evenings for our Sunday worship services. Wedding couples are welcome to use them.

 L/G Hall for cocktail or tea-party and refreshments
 

Wedding cocktail or tea-party is welcomed to be held in our L/G Hall at the rate of HKD1250 per 3-hour usage EXCLUSIVE of neither catering nor drinks. You cannot use our kitchen for cooking, but the fridge will be available for storing your wedding cake and drinks.

 Other Important Information
 
  • Cancellation or Change in Time Slot:
    In the event of your cancelling or changing the time slot of the wedding booking, a cancellation fee will be payable by you. If you cancel or alter time slot of your wedding booking more than six months in advance of your wedding date, a cancellation fee of HKD1750 will be charged – any balance you have paid will be refunded to you. If you cancel or alter time slot within six months of your wedding date, the full deposit of HKD3500 will be charged as a cancellation fee. This is necessary to safeguard other couples’ wedding plans.
  • Car Parking:
    The Church DOES NOT have a car park, parking in our neighbour’s car park (The Government Chest and Heart Clinic) IS NOT ALLOWED. Please advise visitors to use public car parks. The nearest public car parks are: (1) 248 Queen’s Road East; (2) Ruttonjee Hospital, (3) Hopewell Center, and (4) Parking Meters in front of St. James Primary School.
